Strategies for Classroom Use

• The conjugator pages are designed to be used along with the Spanish Dial-A-Verb 5000 and Spanish Dial-A-Verb 8000 verb wheels, but feel free to use them without the verb wheels.
  • Create a set of verbs and print them as a handout.
  • Display these web pages in class to illustrate new tenses and irregularities.

Linking to the Conjugator from Your Syllabus or Web Page

If you have an online syllabus or assignments page, you can create links to this page that will display exactly what you want your students to see.

• First, using the table below, enter the infinitives and select the features that you want to appear in a study sheet for your students.

Basic Instructions

• You can enter any number of verb infinities separated by spaces. All infinitives must end in -ar, -er, or -ir. Be sure to pick the tenses you want to see conjugated.
• When you click on "Conjugate," a new window will open. For best printing results, use the "Print" button at the top of the page. The text size will be adjusted to help fit the results into one page width. When selecting a large number of tenses, you may want to select Preferences on the print dialog and then pick the Landscape orientation.
• If you do not know how to enter accented letters, use the following substitutes:
  • use *i for í
  • use *u for ü
  • use *n for ñ

Advanced Users

• Under "Model Numbering" you can choose to display the model numbers that are used on the verb wheels associated with this site. The 5000 model is the simplified wheel and the 8000 model is the advanced wheel.
• If your textbook or course is oriented toward the American Hemisphere, you may wish to select "Exclude vosotros forms." The vosotros forms are used mostly in Spain.
• If you are studying irregular verbs, it is often useful to display an example of each regular verb along whith your verb choices. This makes it easier to see what is unusual about the irregular verb.
• While studying irregular verbs, it can also be helpful to know what other infinitives behave the same way as the one you are studying. You can also ask the conjugator to include other similar verbs in the output.
